Stop putting the same designer clothing in every damn fashion editorial
Seriously we’re fucking bored of seeing gucci, hermes, ysl, dior… Where the fuck is your imagination and innovation fashion editorials? We must stop regurgitating the past century (and I’m not dogging the designers, they are indeed great). Calling all fashion editors with balls and tits out. Please please crawl out from under the rock you’ve nestled under and please for fuck’s sake show me NEW age designers, INNOVATIVE upcyclers, how about a little fashion ARCHITECTURE or fucking something I have yet to see or want to sink my legs into.
What prompted this rant is my recent excitement over the front cover of NYT Style Magazine and subsequent disappointment followed by bored rage of all the fashion editorials basically circling through the same fucking five to six fashion designers. I mean they nailed the content and images but sucked the creative breath right back out with captions like Dior, Celine… honey we’ve already seen this already.
And they aren’t the only ones. Open any general fashion magazine and they are hawking the same damn designers over and over again. YES I understand business practices and featuring your advertisers and how that pays rent etc. But lets be a little real here. NOTHING coverts more readers and fans than newness. NOTHING. We are always craving the next big thing. And guess what that is dear reader. A future where our ecosystems aren’t dying from fashion’s geographical and community greed AND our current fashion geniuses.
There’s no shortage of them either. Show me Les Jesus frolicking through a field in Mexico City or Roby Joe’s late night party people of Nashville or ANYONE besides gucci, dior and ysl. Anyone.
Thank you for listening and stay tuned for more rants at a later day
