Not your cheesy boudoir
Bodies by Sum is a fashionably naked photo experience
Taking nudish type photos of men and women has always been my absolute pleasure. Not for the nudity itself but seeing people unleash their inner confidence, fantasies or just plain old inner nudist brings me so much joy. I too crave freedom and confidence and flexing that comes in many forms. PLUS the only time I had naked photos of myself taken was during my single years. I did it for myself. No partner needed and THAT was very freeing.
Why the no cheesy boudoir part? I’m embarking on a new style of naked. Natural light, out in the open air or in the comfort of your home (out of the bedroom) in spaces and places we can feel powerful or mischievous or rebellious. Traditional boudoir has so many boundaries and it’s hidden. It doesn’t feel good to me. We’re breaking the chains people. Loose the guidelines and what we’ve seen before. Lets try something a little more candid and FUN.
Bodies by Sum, a naked photo experience with Summer Kellogg, a fashion and lifestyle photographer. That’s my tagline because I treat these like any other advertising and branded photo shoot. We bring in wardrobe, scout locations, and go through a creative planning meeting as part of the thrill of production. My clients LOVE it because for most of them its not all about the end result. It’s fun putting a shoot together. It’s the creative process.
The sliding scale was one of the best moves I’ve made so far. My new style boudoir shoot costs $250-$1250 depending on what my subject can afford or wants to pay. This quote I read once and also drew inspiration from Keith Haring, “not all art should be made for the 1%” resonates with the type of people I want to shoot with. I don’t want to create with all rich people. I want to create with a variety of creatives who want to shoot with me.
Yes, I call my subjects my creatives. People think the final images is all fashion photographer. In reality the subject and photographer work together to create the images. My subjects act in front of the camera and I guide them based on what I see. We are playing or working together. Again the process of creation is part of the fun or experience. I tell my subjects being nervous is normal. I get nervous for each shoot. But translating it into energy and excitement is what makes this worthwhile.
